-The American Flag is also called the Old Glory, named like this by Captain William Driver of the brig Charles Doggett in 1831 August the 10th. -The United States Flag is the third oldest of the National Standards of the world. -The pine tree flag was born under Washington's leadership in order to distinguish New Englanders form other colonies. -The snake flag was born after the success at Boston's battle in 1776. -The Grand Union Flag was created that summer. -The stripes, that were based on an old rebellious Dutch flag, showed the strength of the colonies, and the British Union Jack in the corner showed they were not yet separated. - In 1777, because they wanted to declare their independence, they created a new flag with 13 stripes and 13 stars in a blue field, representing that a new constellation was born. -This flag is also known as the Betsy Ross Flag because there is a legend that appeared 100 years later, claiming it was this woman from Philadelphia who sewed it for J. Washington, but it is not certain whether this is true or not. - There were many interpretation of the Flag, in which the stars were positioned in many different ways, but the meaning of it is always the same. A new constellation in the dark night representing the brighter days to come and the unity and strength of Americans. - In 1779, it appeared a totally different flag, with blue and red stripes, and 8 pointed blue stars in a white field. Everything was wrong, except for one thing.
