This bronze statue was made in India a thousand years ago. India is a very ancient land and has over 5,000 years of civilization. Over many centuries, Indian culture has been based on the Hindu religion and way of life. Siva is a Hindu deity, a holy figure in the religion. To explain why Siva takes on a lot of forms in Hindu art you must trace back to origin of Saivism.
Aaron Copland Aaron Copland was one of the most respected American classical composers of the twentieth century. By incorporating popular forms of American music such as jazz and folk into his compositions, he created pieces both exceptional and innovative. As a spokesman for the advancement of indigenous American music, Copland made great strides in liberating it from European influence. Today, twenty two years after his death, Copland’s life and work continue to inspire many of America’s young composers, which shows the true power of his musical skill. Though Copland began writing his music in the mid 1920s it was in 1935 with “El Salón México” that Copland began his most productive and popular years.
The Rite of Spring is considered a piece that changed about everything there was to know about music. Igor Stravinsky’s methods of composing The Rite of Spring were previously unheard of. For example, the piece begins with a bassoon solo in its highest register (Ewen 788 “20th Century Music”). The solo is notorious because when played it sounds more like an oboe than a bassoon due to the way it was written. The solo has been noted to cause the famous
The third type of music used for films in the silent era was music that was composed specifically for a particular film. The most notable adaptations used in The Birth of a Nation are in the scene of Lincoln’s assassination as well as at the end of the film. One of the most well known arrangements used in this film is Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner. Other popular arrangements included “Maryland, My Maryland” which was used to help lighten the mood. Joseph Carl Breil was the composer of all the original scores for The Birth of a Nation.
Pythagorean Theorem We all learned the Pythagorean theorem in math class, a2 + b2=c2, but not many people know what it means and why is it important. The Mayans also evolved the only true writing system native to the Americas using pictographs and syllabic elements in the form of texts and codices inscribed on stone, pottery, wood, or highly perishable books made from bark paper. No other civilization such as the Tainos also known as the Arwaks or the Kalinagos were that advanced, a matter of fact the Mayans were the most advanced of the neo Indians. The Mayans made writing, mathematics, the calendar system and great architecture buildings. Since the Spaniards burned most of the Mayan books, some of the Mayan history is limited. However, it is known that the Mayan people invented a fully functioning system of writing using pictures to represent
Many people think Vivaldi was the best Italian composer of his time. He wrote concertos, operas, church music and many other compositions. In all, Antonio wrote over 500 concertos. The following will provide an attempt to recreate an experience of unity not just between these two stories, but unity between everything. This essay is fully debatable. Even the fact that this is itself an essay is debatable. The goal of this essay, however, is similar to the goal of Gotama’s teachings, in that neither tries to offer definite answers to questions, or knowledge. They rather offer a method of approaching this feeling of experience as opposed to describing what this experience feels like.
Their discussion may be TOO GENERAL. They may even misunderstand some aspects of the literary work(s). These essays are adequately written but may demonstrate inconsistent control over the elements of effective writing. Organization is evident, but it may not be fully realized or particularly coherent. C- (2-3): These essays address the main ideas involved in the question/topic, but they do so inaccurately or without the support of APPROPRIATE TEXTUAL EVIDENCE.
