Arizona Acts in Accordance with Americans Illegal immigration has long been a problem for the United States. The most common route of entrance into the U.S. by immigrants the past few decades has been the U.S. - Mexican border. Entering the country legally takes more time and therefore, the process of naturalization is undermined through illegal immigration. Naturalization is the process by which foreign citizens gain citizenship through the fulfillment of the requirements set by the United States Congress (United States 1). States along the U.S. - Mexican border are plagued with detrimental repercussions of illegal immigration. One instance of this is the debt that many hospitals have fallen into due to emergency care of illegal aliens. The Mexican Drug Wars which have brutally caused harm to the people of Mexico are spilling over into the United States through the entrance of illegal immigrants. Contrary to common belief, the threat of violence has infiltrated the country beyond just the bordering states. Violence from Mexican gang members has reached areas as far from the border as Anchorage, Alaska (Caldwell 1). This is a serious threat to all U.S. citizens and could be avoided if the entrance of illegal immigrants could be ended. The Arizona immigration law would be instrumental in helping to keep illegal immigrants out of the United States especially because, “Arizona and Atlanta are seeing the worst of the violence because they are major drug distribution hubs thanks to their webs of interstate highways,” (Caldwell 2). If the problem could be dispelled before further spreading of the drug wars into the United States it would ease the worries of American
