Natural Disasters come in many forms such as tornadoes, floods, blizzards, fires, volcanoes erupting, and so on. Natural disasters can happen anywhere in the world, meaning people in certain areas have to be prepared for the most likely disasters. Throughout the world, natural disasters are frequent & deadly. They create destruction, and cause sorrow and grief to the loved ones killed in the disasters. To begin, tornadoes are violent & dangerous rotating columns of air, the columns are in contact with both the earth’s surface and a cloud called a cumulus cloud. A tornado can form in many shapes and sizes. But usually are funneled shaped. A tornado also has winds ranging from 65 mph to over 300 mph, and can stretch more than two miles across. Tornados also have the ability to stay on the ground for many miles. Tornadoes occasionally occur during winter and early spring, due to strong frontal systems that form in the Central States and then move east. Many states are affected yearly by numerous tornadoes and storms similar. Secondly, blizzards are severe winter storms, storms that have low temperature, strong winds, and heavy snow. Many people don’t know the difference between a snow storm and a blizzard. To be considered a blizzard the winds have to exceed 35 mph, have consistent snow fall for three or more hours, and have a visibility of ¼ miles. When a blizzard is expected, the National Weather Service may issue a Blizzard Warning. When conditions haven’t gotten that severe, but still dangerous a Winter storm Watch or Winter storm Warning will be issued. Listening to your TV, radio, or other sources will keep you informed. Lastly, the most common disaster of them all is the Earthquake. An Earthquake is a sudden shake of the Earth’s crust caused by the tectonic plates colliding. The vibration may vary in magnitude.
