I always wanted it to be the most creative project in our class, so I would volunteer to construct the project. I would take in the ideas of all the members of our group, and I would come up ideas that everyone would agree with. I never came up with an idea and told the others in the group how it was going to be. I believe my experiences tie in with servant leadership because a group needs a leader to encourage all ideas and collaborate them into one. I try to ensure trust within the group and give them confidence that the project will be great.
I continued to play and love the game while also continuing to be a leader. I believe this kind of mindset is what separates the leaders from the followers. My competitive drive is what allowed me to be such an effective player. Practices, tournaments, and seasons go by and now its senior year. This is the season in a high school career that really matters, so I am determined to make the most of it, starting by getting team captain.
Senior year of high school is exciting, challenging and a little overwhelming right now; Completing college applications, attending open houses, contacting baseball coaches, and spending many hours trying to find a college that’s the right fit for me. Decisions must be made that will impact the rest of my life, and making the right choice today will help determine my future. I am from a small town and small high school with a personal touch. I like being known by my teachers as Tom, rather than just being another face in class. It is nice to know that I can go to them with a problem and they always have time to listen.
My high school experience has been full of obstacles, achievements, and remarkable moments I will always remember. I have been involved with cheerleading my whole life and I recently became a member of the National Beta Club my junior year in high school. Both of these organizations gave me experiences to better myself as an individual and a leader figure. I also have achieved the following requirements of the Greater Orangeburg Community foundation scholarship. Becoming a recipient of this award would help me towards my goals set in life and most of all majoring in biology.
I graduate at May 2012 in my Associate Arts Degree with major in Accounting. One of my favorite hobbies is interacting with young kids in my opinion they are fun, interesting, and one word amazing. I am married, I have two boys (12 and 8), and two girls (10 and 3). Of course, I am plenty full of goals and activities with my family as well as in my career. I am a pioneer in my family against violence at home!
They answered my questions when I did not understand the material and they always pushed me to do my best. I would especially like to thank the award committee for presenting me with the Achievement Award today. Thank you for nominating me and granting me with this great award. I am honored that I have been chosen among the many finalist. I would also like to thank my parents who have always been there for me.
Some were reliable, some were organized, and some were not. As I got older and started going to high school I started to realize who I really needed to be hanging around with; the reliable and organized friends. I've always believed the saying "you are who you hang out with." My parents played a big part in who I became today also. They were always drilling into my head to be responsible, outgoing, independent, and frugal.
I think long and hard and weigh the pros and cons before I come to a conclusion, because my outcome will not only affect me, but everyone around me also. It is my personal responsibility to do the best that I can to obtain my degree. It is also my personal responsibility to turn in all my assignments, study for tests, and put in the correct amount of time and participation each week in order to pass the course. My preliminary plan to practice personal responsibility in my education includes, time management, self-discipline, and adopting good study skills. Personal responsibility, as it relates to academics is the taking charge of one’s own learning.
My high school does a mandatory community service every year and I can honestly say it brings out the good in people. I support community service a hundred percent. You will notice a difference in the kids that serve and the ones that don't. I hope all schools keep mandating community
