As a nominee I understand that the National Honor Society is an honor to be in itself. I have always been noted for my empathy towards others and since the National Honor Society is dedicated to helping with school functions and many non profit organizations, I feel that this is a society for me. Throughout my high school career I have been on the honor roll since third grade at Dowdall elementary school and have received many academic awards. My GPA has never gone below 3.77 and I have never received a grade less than a B. When I am given a project or a paper, I always strive to get it done as soon as I can but still get the best grade on it. I believe that the fact that I was nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society shows my academic achievement in itself. It is difficult to narrow down the many instances where I have showed leadership but many can be found in my involvements in teamwork. I have been looked to as a leader and have taken responsibility for various group projects. I have discovered much about fairness, compromise, and responsible qualities that are required to be a "good" leader. Often, I have had to sacrifice my own free time and personal desires for the benefit of the group. As an 8th grader at Armstrong middle school I was inducted into National Junior Honor Society. I helped with 8th grade tours, fundraising and various other group efforts. Also as a 4th grader at Dowdall Elementary school I was the Assistant secretary treasure. I was able to voice the needs and wants of my classmates and make the school a better place. The past two years I have been on the Varsity Bowling team. We as a team have worked together to get a regional and state championship as well as winning many other tournaments. I believe this is the most important part of being a leader, the ability to sacrifice individual time and desires for the overall gain
