1. Summary 2. Analysis and short-term solution 3. Long-term solution 1. Summary On February 14, 1971, Hugo Schaeffer, vice president of operations at the NCC, revealed his concern that although the company had spent $75,000 on a fifth Kiwanee dumper, overtime costs were still out of control and the growers were upset that their trucks and drivers had to spend so much time waiting to unload.
Around August of 2007, banks become afraid to loan money out due to the fact that they did not want to suffer from losing money yet again. “This led to the $700 billion bailout, and bankruptcies or government nationalization of Bear Stearns, AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, IndyMac Bank, and Washington Mutual. By December 2008, employment was declining faster than in the 2001 recession.”(useconomy.com). With so many foreclosures on houses, many americans were either homeless, or had bought a cheap apartment to keep them from being homeless. Because of the recession, and bad economic, many Americans have no jobs, and barely have a house.
Research and Development has been eliminated completely since last year. In the minutes of the meeting on June 30th, Mr. Lancaster said the quality of shoes was too high and people were not buying replacements fast enough. He therefore had Research and Development eliminated that year, and has used the space for a gym. Also in the minutes to the June 30th meeting, telephone and postage expenses are down as expected due to increased use of email.
There are abut 47 million people on food stamps. Also more than eighty percent of the people that are on food stamps have a monthly income that is below the poverty line( ). Food stamps have also taken a cut in how much money they give out. This has become a big problem because people on food stamps are already struggling enough as it is and then when the food stamp company takes more money away from a family it makes it even harder for them to get food and provide for their family. Food stamps are also not accepted everywhere.
That would be about 6,888 total in the U.S. That proves how special it is. The current employment trends for a swat team member show that from June 2010 to December 2011 the employment rate raised 40 percent. Jobs are kind of hard to come by these days because of the budget cuts causing termination and transfers. There are a number of numerous duties in a swat team. This causes a problem because fruits and vegetables do not stay ripe forever. Therefore many families will buy foods that are able to be froze or have a longer shelf life. These foods are normally processed or unhealthy. Another issue for families that live in a food desert is the money it takes to travel to a grocery store. Driving 45 miles to a store equals a total of 90 miles.
Also, depending on the industry, in order to give consumers the low prices that they hold as the Holy Grail manufacturers often have to give up the quality of the product. I have worked in retail for over ten years and I see this on a daily basis. People get upset when their $12 flip flops blow out, but when you show them the $50 flip flops that come with a 5 year warranty, most of the time they want nothing to do with it. Fashion of course is an industry that doesn’t make items obsolete, but things simply go out of style. But once again, the fashion retail industry doesn’t force people to go out and buy the latest trends.
Our conditions are not good, we are living on the scraps of what my father makes in the farmland each day, but it is not enough, only enough to provide us with food, but our needs and wants are limited. My Father has to go 6 days a week for 8 hours to the farmland to grow crops. It has been years possibly months but there has still not been healthy development and growth in the crops. Every morning I hear, my father arguing with my mother trying to persuade her to go to Oregon. You see my father has heard many tales of the land of flowing milk and honey on the
It was hard enough with just a recession, but now banks are much stricter when it comes to lending. Surveys done show that 63 percent of companies with less than 100 employees are having trouble with credit, 12 percent had to lay off employees because of it, and 1 in 5 of 600 polled are at risk of going out of business in the next six months. In a brief interview with Mr. Paul Braungart III, entrepreneur and president of Regional Capital Group, a commercial real estate lender and investment company based in Marlton NJ, Mr. Braungart explained that the crisis has impacted values of property and the ability to buy and sell. Therefore, no one’s doing anything really, which paralyzes the market because everyone’s afraid to make any potentially risky moves. The commercial real estate market isn’t as bad off as the residential market, but it has a significant ripple effect on the mind state of the nation.
Reflection Paper (The Drought) By Anon The state of California is going through one of the worst droughts ever recorded in the past 100 years(California’s Drought). It’s no surprise that with the lack of rain we have had in the past two years, water reservoirs are reaching an all-time low. They are constantly working in overtime trying to provide the residents of California with the water needed to sustain their households. Although we are putting pressure on our water reservoirs, it’s still not enough to get us by anymore and the government has also asked that people cut back on water usage. It’s sad to think that the state of California has already had a couple of cities run out of water.
