Narrative on Military Boy

Firing fleets of metal bullets, quickly charging the dangerous front lines, and marshaling the last bit of strength, military men and women are brave courageous united people willing to protect us and our country's rights. Aiden Doherty, 15, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. For all who know Doherty, they probably could not imagine him on a battlefield. However, there is quite a lot more to Doherty than what appears. At first glance, Doherty appears to be a scrawny 5 foot 3 inch 10th grade boy. Although, Doherty says he will be remembered as "...that funny short kid," there is a lot more to him than what meets the eye. As one gets to know Doherty, they begin to see his hidden yet incredible amount of inner strength. Doherty's dad, Mr. Tim Doherty, is in the military. He has been in the military for thirty two years. Specifically, Mr. Doherty is in the army. He is a helicopter pilot that helps in evacuating wounded soldiers. His rank in the army is lieutenant colonel. Deployed quite often, Mr. Doherty was rarely around the house. Therefore, Doherty had to become the man of the house. While juggling protecting the women of the Doherty household and the tedious assigned schoolwork and homework, Doherty has to set aside the mournful feelings he gets knowing that his dad may never come back from war. Doherty says, "It kills me knowing my dad might die out there, but I look up to him for what he does. " Mr. Doherty pushes for and hopes that his son will continue the long family line of being in the military. In fact, Doherty says, "Out of all my family, my dad thinks I'm the only one that could be in the military." Being in the military not only takes a great deal of physical strength but even more mental strength. Mental strength is about resilience. It is about the ability to overcome hardship.
