COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION ENGL-101 Liberty University September 9, 2013 The debate of rather a computer is an empowering tool to those who embark upon it still exist today. A computer in the hands of a hard-working student is an important and empowering tool that, if utilized to the fullest potential, can be capable of encouraging that student to become a success in his or her studies. In today’s society, technology has become an integral part of education. It allows students and teachers access to information, show students real world, help with research projects, and prepares for jobs. I believe that with the many technological advances that have been made throughout history computers have made life easier. I believe that computers have changed the world, as a lot of things can now be done through computers. A person can find a computer everywhere – at school, at work, and at home. A lot of a person’s daily activities either involve the use of or depend on information from a computer. I believe the educational environment is one of the most important places where the computer is placed. Computers have become an integral part of the education as they allow students and teachers access to information; helps in research projects; and prepares teachers for their jobs. Computer technology has given me the dream of distance learning a reality. I no longer have to limit myself to the classroom. I am able to learn from the comfort of my home and on my schedule. As I read Judith Levine’s essay, in her statement “Most of the data my students Net is like trash fish – and it is hard for them to tell a dead one-legged crab from a students I believe that she became frustrated with the students who felt that using the information on the computer is worthless.
