My Wild Journey

My wild journey with a silver back gorilla It was the second year that I had worked here. It has been amazing to see all these different types of animals here at the zoo. Except there was something special about this one specific silver back gorilla other than it was my favorite type of animal. There was just something about her that made my day every day. I knew something was special about her the first day I worked there. Her name is Izzy. Of course I named her. I was able to name her because well I was the only one who could really get close to her without anyone else beside me helping me just in case she tried to attack. Along the couple of months I had first been there we grew together. I touched her heart and she touched my heart even more. We had become such close friends that I taught her how to do sign language. It took her only a few months to learn what she needed to learn. She learned faster than what I did. One day I got a call in on my wakie talkie and my boss said that he needed to see me. I went to my bosses office and he said to me "Ryan I am so impressed in how far you have gotten in teaching Izzy" and I said "why thank you. She has made a lot of progression." Then he said "and that is why I would like to make you the main care taker of the silver back gorillas." I didn’t know what else to say so i just thanked him. As I went back I heard screams from an animal so I ran back to Izzy’s habitat. She signed to me “HELP ME” so I ran as fast as I could to her before she passed out. I asked her “what?” but she had already passed out. Then I realized that I needed to feel her stomach for something. By luck there it was she was pregnant, and all this time I thought it was from gaining weight from eating a lot. Since she was passed out, and it was obviously time for her to give birth, she could not do this on her own or else she would die.
