My Serenity Essay

My Serenity This is a place where I come to find peace, to relax and to feel free. A place where the stress melts away, and the beauty and joy replace it. This place makes everything that is wrong, go away for a period of time, and the beauty, wonder and peace of the life we live, shine in the front of my mind. I am speaking of the horse farm. A place with the sweet smells of hay, leather, grain, and horses that are giant gentle creatures full of beauty and power, with rolling hills and miles of trails. There are horses out in the field, some grazing on the green grass, some lazily bathing in the sun, and some looking curiously at the activities going on around them. The stalls full of fresh sawdust and the people all are cheery and kind. It’s never hard to find someone willing to take a ride out on the trail or in the fields. Some days it’s relaxed and calming, others its fast and fun with lots of laughs and chatting, and other days, days that have been extra stressful or tough, I prefer to be alone with the hoof beats and thoughts. The freedom you feel with twelve-hundred pounds of animal galloping under you, I can only imagine, is similar to the feeling of flying, only you aren't flying, nor are you controlling this animal like some may believe, this animal with hooves that could crush you and teeth that could tear you in bits is obedient because he chooses to be, he bonded with his people and wants to please them, enjoys these rides and time spent together. It’s an amazing feeling, a feeling that takes you away from everything, if only for a while. Everything about this place is freeing, happy and joyful. Some days, early in the morning and at nights I can’t sleep and am restless, I find solace in grabbing a book, a cup of tea or coffee, and sitting in the bales of hay reading my book, all is quiet and calm, the only sounds are of the horses
