Introduction Teaching is the act, process, or art of imparting knowledge and skill. It is seen as any activity that is performed in order to produce learning(Hirst and Peters,1970). Science education is the field concerned with sharing science content and process with individuals not traditionally considered part of the scientific community. The target individuals may be children, college students, or adults within the general public. The field of science education comprises science content, some social science, and some teaching pedagogy.(www.Wikipedia.com) My role as a science teacher Operations research also referred to as decision sciences or management science is my scientific discipline. Operational research (OR) encompasses a wide range of problem-solving techniques and methods applied in the pursuit of improved decision-making and efficiency. Some of the tools used by operational researchers are statistics, optimization, probability theory, queuing theory, game theory, graph theory, decision analysis, mathematical modeling and simulation. The computational nature of these fields, has often linked my discipline to computer science and analytics. Operational researchers faced with a new problem must determine which of these techniques are most appropriate given the nature of the system, the goals for improvement, and constraints on time and computing power. In relating my roles to knowledge I would say Operations research is a wonderful subject to teach, to do, to research. It contains all the elements of disciplined, thoughtful approaches to complex problems. Once a learner is exposed to OR and masters its fundamental elements, he or she is able to tackle a wide range of problems, even if he or she is not visibly "doing" OR in the process.
