My Quadratic Math Experience

It was a typical Monday morning. Water running, doors smashing, my siblings rushed to get ready for school. I in the other hand, was as calm as the ocean blue on a beautiful day. In fact, today was a beautiful day, as the softball tryouts began. I woke up very breezeless knowing i was going to make the team for sure. No doubts, no worries came to mind. As the day started, all i could think about were the tryouts. I couldn’t focus my mind on anything but that, till i went to my favorite class, Algebra two, taught by my lovely teacher, Mrs. Barrett. I love that class, in fact i would say is one of my top preferred subjects. Literally, me and my friends love planning study groups to collaborate and work out challenging problems that really makes us think. Moreover, as time came for tryouts, i felt the pressure, heart pumping, hands sweating, i practice till my turn came. Then i heard my name called, i walked to the field, got into my position and i knew it was my time to shine. “WOSHHH” the ball went and i saw the ball go perfectly in the air. I was so proud at myself as well as my friends were, they even took a video of me. Lucky for me that they did! for i had the opportunity to calculate when my ball landed and when it hit the highest point!. According to the video, the gravity pulled the ball down, changing it’s speed about five m/s per second. Then the ball traveled upwards at 10 meters per second and since i threw the softball from ground level, the height began at zero meters. Considering these measurement values, i was able to create a quadratic equation of negative five “t” (the “t” representing time) squared plus ten “t” equalling to “h” ( “h” representing height). Now that i figured out the quadratic equation, i equaled it all to zero in order to find the time the ball hit the ground. The first step after i equalled everything to zero was, I
