The Future, My Next Big Adventure PSY202: Adult Development and Life Assessment February 20, 2014 The Future, My Next Big Adventure Personally, I am constantly setting new goals for myself. I am a very goal oriented individual I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment. For this assignment I have chosen three goals, one personal, one professional and one academic goal. Two of these goals directly relate to each other, accomplishing one, directly affects me accomplishing the other. The first goal I have set for myself is a personal one. I have a burning desire to run a marathon. I have chosen the Maui Oceanfront Marathon. If you are going to set a lofty personal goal for yourself, you might as well love the place where you are achieving it. It will be held in the fall of this year on September 21st and I will have 7 months to train. I really want to prove to myself I can do it at the age of 50. (specific) I have gone online and discovered a training program that I can use to train for this marathon. I am going to start by running 3-4 times a week 3 miles a day starting April 1st. The next step in my training program is to increase my mileage in increments for the next 3 months and run a 10k. In the fourth month of my training schedule I plan on running a half marathon, continuing to keep pace with running 3-4 times a week. During the fifth month I will start increasing my mileage to 10 miles a day. The last month of my training I will maintain that distance during the week and increase to 18 miles over the weekends. (Measurable) I will start saving my money putting away 300 dollars a month for 5 months to ensure that I can afford the airfare and accommodations. Training for the marathon, getting out and running and staying on schedule helps me attain my goal. Listening to my body, stretching etc… ensures that I avoid injury. Keeping my head and
