I gained valuable hands-on field experience analyzing and studying the pollution of microplastics in the Puget Sound of Washington state and studied nutrient cycling in alpine and urban lakes. With this experience I hoped to gain employment in the environmental field upon graduation. Entering the job hunt after graduation, I realized that I needed much more than experience to stand out as a strong applicant; I needed to further my education with a graduate degree. I look forward to a career in civil engineering where I can not only use my academic background to achieve my long term goals but also make scientific contributions to my field of interest in water quality. I believe that graduate studies would provide me with the opportunities to attend advanced courses and be the stepping stone to my career in civil engineering.
Sea floor spreading forms the best evidence for continental drift. Critically discuss this statement. There is lots of evidence to support the theory of continental drift, including Harry Hess’s discovery of sea floor spreading theory. By using sonar, Hess found that oceans were shallower in the middle, allowing him to identify Mid Ocean Ridges. He suggested that at the centre of oceans, molten material would rise from the Earth’s mantle, causing new sea floor to be created, pushing the ocean floor.
M6A1 Project 2 Wabash Watershed GEOL 108 Professor Tim Born M6A1 Project 2 Wabash Watershed Global warming affects everyone no matter where you live. It is not restricted to just one country, state, or person. Everything we do has consequences to our environment and we all need to be aware about what affects it can have. "Data gathered from surface weather stations, ships, buoys, balloons, satellites, ice cores, and other paleoclimatological sources indicate that the climate of Earth is becoming warmer" (Hess, 2014, p. 103). Most people use the term Greenhouse Effect and global warming interchangeably.
Explain the cause of sea level change and the formation of resultant coastal landforms. (15) There are a number of factors that contribute to long and short-term variations in sea level. Short term variations generally occur on a daily basis and include waves, tides, or specific flood events, such as those associated with a winter snow melt, or hurricanes or other coastal storms. Long term variations in sea level occur over various time scales, from monthly to several years, and may be repeatable cycles, gradual trends, or intermittent anomalies. These long term variations in sea level can be caused by major glacial episodes, changes in the hydrological cycle, vertical land motion or even changes in the ocean and coastal circulation.
He thought they were invited to the house weeks ago although it had been empty longer than that. 4. How does Cheever communicate the passing of time and Neddy’s aging? Cite specific passages from the story to back up your answer. On page 237 paragraph three “Had you gone for a Sunday afternoon ride that day you might have seen him, close to naked, standing on the shoulders of Route 424, waiting for a change to cross.” This kind of reminds me of passing of time because he is waiting.
Transpiration removes water from plants and soil. Air currents take water vapour into the atmosphere where cooler temperature causes it to condense into clouds. Air currents move water around the globe; cloud particles collide and fall out of the sky as snow, hail or sleet. Most water falls back into ocean or on land as rain where the water flows over ground as runoff. Some of runoff enters rivers flowing water towards ocean where water cycle had started.
Sometimes they get overly excited going from one pool to another and slip on the coral reef, which can put a damper on all the fun. When this happens they usually take advantage of one of the many parks located in the area. The parks allow them to play with both, American and Japanese children. All these activities will leave an impression on them that will last a lifetime. The actual seawall is what makes this area unique.
Michael became insulted when I paid for our lunch; I guess he assumed we would be having a Dutch treat. 14. Two weeks into my European history class each student is given the option whether to fish or cut bait. I had failed the first test so I decided to but bait and drop out. 15.
He had to serve a few days in “tent city” (Hill, Jim, 1999), he had his driver’s license suspended for one year, and he has had to take a few hours of alcohol related courses. He also has had to pay fines to the city and his lawyer. He no longer has a vehicle because it was totaled during the accident that occurred while he was driving intoxicated. Kevin is lucky because he can still work and he has family that can provide him with transportation to and from work. Although, I think Kevin has learned his lesson, I am glad that Arizona has laws in place that will prevent him from being able to drive for one year.
I was tested once during the year, but there was some people that were tested up to four times, and if I may note, these were supposed to be random drug tests… there wasn’t anything random about them. I currently had been working at Walgreens Drug Store for almost a year, and had just get a job at Komatsu Mining Corporation where I was going to co-op my senior year. I had just recently passed the drug screen for Komatsu and just put in my two weeks at Walgreens before I left to go to Arizona for a family vacation, and then I would just be working at Komatsu when I got
