Case Study: Robert Hansen History and the Crime Robert Hansen was born February 15, 1939 in Estherville, Iowa. He grew up as an antisocial child due to bad acne and a stuttering problem which led him to have few friends . His father was very strict and forced him to work many hours at the bakery which he owned. He was a small, straggly child and although he was left-handed, his father forced him to be right handed, contributing even more to his stuttering problem because of the increased frustration. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Army Reserves and after basic training he worked mostly in his father’s bakery.
Soham Murders A crime shook Britain and put the name of Soham, the quiet, market village in Cambridgeshire, in history. Schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman left a family barbecue to go and buy sweets and were never seen again. The hunt for the missing 10-year-olds, left the nation gripped for nearly two weeks, ended in tragedy when their bodies were found in shallow graves near an RAF base in Suffolk. Local school caretaker Ian Huntley was arrested and charged with their abduction and murder. The then-28-year-old claimed Holly had accidentally drowned after falling into the bath at his rented cottage as he tried to treat her nosebleed.

During the 1930's Canada was going through a tough time and that was because of the Great Depression. They suffered through a drought that lasted for ten years providing the cities with no crops, overproduction of goods allowing there to be not enough goods later on, unemployment causing people to go through poverty, and the stock market crash where people lost everything due to the loans they made to pay for their stocks they wanted to sell in the future. All of these events had a major contribution to the Great Depression, but the main causes of the Great Depression were unemployment, the drought, and the stock market crash (also known as the trigger incident). Unemployment was one of the main causes of the Great Depression. While many people were buying on credit, they needed to pay off their debts and as long as they had jobs they were able to
Coming to the finish line I pushed myself to hard and fell over the finish line. I had made myself a big cut on my knee. It was embarrassing for me that I knew I didn’t beat my brothers time. The following day, the times were up and I checked mine and I got 6:01. I thought to myself that I had tried this whole season and that it was my first year.
“Wow, this weather is really bad.” That’s what I thought to myself as the lightning destroyed the town. At that moment, I had nothing to say because I was too terrified by the raging storm. About ten minutes later, I went inside to check on the weather. I thought that it was just a regular storm at the time, but I would soon find out that I was far from right. June 5, 1969 Dear journal, I’ve realized that I’ve not been writing since ’56 ,but that’s because we’ve been having some unpleasant weather.
Joseph Calcavecchia 10/23/10 Eng. 121 Ms. Gadsden Gettysburg It is the morning of July 1st 1863, it was a very cold day out, and the wind was blowing very hard against my tent. Old Jonas in the back was snoring so loud; I had thought he would wake the dead. I’ve been a worried sick all night without any sleep at all. I had heard word that my wife Margaret has come down with pneumonia and I wish I could be there to tend to her.
This reminds me of the time my dad told me how my cousin was killed by a drunk driver, I can not even begin to imagining how painful it must have been for my aunt and uncle to lose their son that day. Matthew's mothers pain also reminds me of how much pain my family felt when my paternal grandmother died at 1:30 in the morning on May 18th (the day after my birthday) and how we had to try to cope so we could support my grandfather. The most recent event that this reminds me of is when we had to put my dog Sirius down on October 22nd and how painful it was. Sirius was like a sister to me and now I have to deal with the pain of losing
