My Insight essay “The truth may sometimes hurt for a moment, but the pain you experience from a lie can last forever.”(Anonymous) I had to choose between my best friend and the promise that gave to my father when I faced a dilemma. Our Pakistan History teacher, Miss Kiran decided to take our class on a field trip to the Museum of State Bank of Pakistan. The students were excited as they rode the bus to their destination. After touring the building with a staff member the students met on the grass outside to eat their lunch. Miss Kiran stood proudly with delight that her students had all minded so well- not touching certain exhibits. But not all was as perfect as Miss Kiran thought. Once the class was quite she stated that there had been a call concerning some arrowheads that were missing from the museum. I wrestled in my seat and I know who had taken the items. When the bell rang for lunch, I looked for Hina. I breathlessly said to her that I need to talk to her, she kept walking, ignoring my pleas to slow down. I said to her that can I see those coins which your uncle gave you? She refused to do it and gave some silly reasons then I said that may be you should show them to Miss Kiran because I know you steal that coins you could return them and everything would be alright. “I want to keep them for my collection and don’t tell it to anyone” she replied. I wondered, should I tell Miss Kiran about it or keep silent and save the best friend if I tell it to Miss then she break the friendship and never talk to me again then I suddenly remember the day when I spoke lie to my father and he didn’t talk to me for two weeks.
