The movie Mean Girls is a perfect example of in-group and out-groups, self-concept, and social identity. Cady who has been homeschooled her whole life has become forced to learn the social norms of high school. At the beginning of the movie Cady meets two friends, Damien and Janis. These two students were seen as the outcast crowd or the out-group, but Cady has no idea. As they enter the cafeteria Janis says “Here’s a map of North Shore…Where you sit in the cafeteria is crucial”, leaving Cady anxious when she is trying to find a seat at lunch.
The couple is not satisfied until the bus driver verifies himself that it is indeed a baby. After the conformation, they sat there after targeting a mother “self-satisfied, bland, and all puffed up like a plate of rice.” (85, Bayoumi.) After exiting the bus, all Yasmin wants do to make them like the woman on the bus “powerless”, “discriminated against”, and like “a source of irrational fear.” (86) The author views how she feels depraved, because she was not doing more for the woman. This makes the reader empathize with her. When Yasmin enters high school, she runs for freshman secretary winning by a landslide.
I like this quote because no matter who it is that is tearing you down, you should never let them. You should always stand up for what you believe in and stand up for how you feel. This quote is very important in the book because Sam finally stands up to
“For after finding out who Lio was exactly, mama had forbidden Minerva to bring him into the house” (Alvarez 75). She kept Lio away from the house but she did not stop seeing him. Lio had to leave because his name was all over the newspapers and the police were looking for him. When Lio left he said he would write Minerva every day. Lio left, Minerva was not receiving any letters and was kind of curious because he did say he would right her every day.
Peters and I stayed behind. Mrs. Perters asked me in Mrs. Wright did it and to be honest… I wasn’t sure. She also told me that Mr. Peters says that it doesn’t look too goo for Mrs. Wright’ that Mr. Henderson is awfully sarcastic in his speech and that he will make fun of her for saying she didn’t wake up for the incident. I didn’t have an answer for Mrs. Peters. She also claimed that it they believed it was afunny way to kill a man which is strange because my husband didn’t underdstand since there was a gun in the Wirghts’ house.
Jeannie, the inspiration for it all, seemed like a woman of true love for what she did and how much she loved kids. Krosoczka furthermore gave back to the people that gave to him with the book and also created this amazing day for the lunch ladies to feel even more appreciated. After reading the article it made me look at what other people who aren’t as appreciated. For example, police officers, crossing guards, and post officers, it makes me think that these people do things that don’t receive a lot of recognition. However, they’re not in need of a day, but they should deserve some type of recognition for what they do for the community.
Everything else she mentioned was positive and she appreciated the friendly staff. 4/17/14 She stepped outside the room and I let her know that she should always have her clipboard turned over for confidential reasons. Cheryl did a great job of staying engaged with not only the patients, but wits and staff as well. Even though she was making rounds, she always asked everyone else if they needed anything. She usually finishes her rounds early, so she enjoys helping out other people on her down time.
She would try to help someone with there work even if she doesn't know how to do it. She will try to figure it out. Most of all she will go out of the way to learn something new to help someone as we'll as find a easier way to explain the subject they need help on. Jasmine is sweet , nice because no matter how bad her day is she will still smile and no show that she is having a bad day. She is a nice person to everyone and could never just
They never try to stop the killing and hurting even they know that may have themselves killed on the sacrifice. Even Tessie, when she found that the victim will be chosen in her family, she only says:“ it’s not fair!” she never asked people to stop the sacrifice and against the culture, she only thought about to redo the lottery and have a chance to get another person to died. If I were in that situation I would stand out and tell people to cancel the worship ceremony. I will fight for life, not only for my life, but for everyone’s life, for next generation’s life. I would tell people to stop killing each other for fun.
11/28/12 Disaster 9/11 Crystal Meth Legalization and Societies Interpretation “Be good in school today honey, I already put your lunch in your backpack. Love you.” “Thanks Daddy, I love you too”, Sarah said. Five minutes later and I was crossing the bridge to the far side of the Fairfield train station. I swear after all these years I could take this route blindfolded, it’s become such a repetitive cycle. The drive to the train, the commute to Grand Central Station, the taxi ride through the frozen traffic.
