My Home Town I would like to tell you about my home town where I was born. It is a city in south - western Poland called Walbrzych, which is situated on the river Pelcznica in central part of mountain range Sudety. Walbrzych used to belong to German and was called Waldenburg that mean “forest castle”. The oldest historical record of the city date back to the 12th century so it is one of the oldest city in Poland. Walbrzych is by far from the largest city in Poland but it has a long history which is very interesting. It used to be a industrial city because of the three biggest coal mines in the borough also it was one of the richest and liveliest city. Although it was very dirty and smoky because of the pollution from the coal mines. Currently Walbrzych has become a different place because of the new investment as well the government of the Walbrzych has been changing politics. Now Walbrzych is more friendly and hospitable because people realized that this city has something to offer for tourists. The first thing one notice is big castle called “Ksiaz” with beautiful garden and amazing views of forest and landscape. The castle is a main tourist attraction in my town because it is the largest Silesian castle and the third largest castle in Poland behind Krakow’s Wawel and the Teutonic Castle in Malbork. Also the castle has underground tunnels , which were build during II World War. Most of the tunnels opened for tourist last year. It is also possible to visit a Museum of Industry and Technology which was set up on the facilities of the oldest coal mine in the area. You can also see a lot of old and historical building and places such as: Town Hall, churches, monuments and
