My Favorite Restaurant Grandmother’s Dinning Room Since I left home and came to California, I’ve been missing my grandmother’s food, that food that I could always find at home. When I just got to this country I was surprise how in almost every other corner you can find a fast food restaurant; and on the beginning I would always say; “I will not follow that bad habit on buying fast food, I will be cooking at home!”. After two or three months I had to start on following that same pat, there was no time to cook, between work and school; sometimes there was not even time to eat. How did I find my favorite restaurant.? One day no long ago, I was visiting my aunt in Central LA, and it was late and we got hungry and the next thing I knew we were on the way to “Pizza Hut”. When we enter the parking lot I saw another restaurant named “El comedor de la abuelita” (Grandmother’s dinning room) the publicity was written in spanish with a big flag from my country. So it keept my attention and asked my aunt to go to that restaurant. Since that day I will never regret changing “Pizza Hut” to this other restaurant. As soon as I opened the door, I could hear the sound of people making corn tortillas by hand, the music was exactly the one that grandma would always have for Sundays lunch with the family; It was full, we actually had to wait for a table. When we finally sat, a lady came to us and handed the menus; she was talking in spanish as everybody else was; she is from my country too. When I saw the menu, I couldn’t believe that they had all of those dishes that I was craving on; fried plantains, over easy eggs with chirmol (tomato salsa), cheese from Zacapa, pureed black beans, atol de elote [a sweet corn drink], chipilín tamales, guacamole, green chicken, refried rice, etc. So I started ordering food like if I was going to feed my whole family, and it was only
