As Homaro Cantu once said “Most of us have fond memories of food from our childhood. Whether it was our mom’s homemade lasagna or a memorable chocolate birthday cake, food has a way of transporting us back to the past.” Seventeen years ago when I first moved to Dalton I visited what today is my favorite restaurant. Although I was only four years old I still recall that afternoon like it was yesterday. The authentic hamburger patty smell in the air, it’s golden crispy fries and the best tasting burger is why burger king is my favorite restaurant. It was a late afternoon in 1998, I stood alongside my family just outside Burger King. I couldn’t help but notice a humongous playground and a distinctive delicious smell that surrounded the restaurant. As we made our way into the restaurant the smell got stronger, it wasn’t a strong unbearable smell but rather a soothing smell of food that made you crave whatever they sold each time you inhaled. As my dad received the food we ordered my eyes immediately noticed the golden crispy fries that appeared to shine almost as if covered in gold. The salt sprinkled like tiny diamonds made the fries glitter in my eyes. Unable to resist the mouthwatering smell I stole one from the plate, and there, standing in front of the pick up line I discovered the best tasting fries on the plant. Slightly saddened as I finished my last fry I realized I had not eaten my burger. Like a child opening a present I slowly unwrapped the wax paper in which it was hidden. My hands could feel the warmth of the burger escaping through the paper, and In my hands I held the revealed burger. My mouth slowly reached for the burger the way two people in love reach in for their first kiss.
