Also, Grant used to be a very hostile man and he didn't care for anything but from visiting Jefferson he started to care about his life and the things in it, he dedicated his whole self to helping Jefferson become a man and he would get into arguments defending his choices with his aunt even if she was very important to him and they never fought. This is greatly shown when Grant is on a visit with Jefferson along with his aunt, Emma and the reverend Grant talks to Jefferson and tells him how he needs him and how he is someone who can do so much while he cant, then he began to cry. This shows how Grant wants to make a change in his life. Grant is a person who goes from being miserable and only cares for himself into someone who can love other things in life and fights for
I bought her a hot-water heater, and another one when it wore out…They were tiny things, inconsequential things. I did them because I was supposed to, because it was my turn to do things for her, and because I was trying to make up for any wrong I had ever done her.” (Bragg, pg. 151) His mother made many sacrifices for her boys when she was growing up, and Bragg was compassionate to his mother. He loved her so much and wanted her to live a comfortable life. This can strike a note with most readers, as most people feel attached to their mothers and would do anything to make them happy.
Luke is a very loving father, and he seems to show the most love to his daughter because she is the youngest, she comes and visits most often, and for the longest periods of time. Luke says “And if one of my sons had come to me that night, I would have phoned the police and told them to meet us with an ambulance at the top of the hill” (Dubus 117). Luke expresses that it is not that he loves his sons any less; but that he could bear to watch his sons take the punishment they would receive if they had done what their sister did. Even though he is protecting his daughter he is leaving a mark on the young man’s family. Luke doesn’t know that no one will find out about what happened.
First off, go away and don’t whisper” (Abcarian, 1169) Granny said this because she thought that Cornelia and Dr.Harry were talking about her behind her back. Although jilted at the altar, granny Weatherall still held the love she felt for George this was shown with her first child who she named George. From this past experience granny Weatherall never allowed herself to love someone with such profundity as she once did. “Love was denied Granny the day she was jilted and she herself never dared to love. But without love Granny’s radically human hurt was never healed.”(Unre, 108) At the age of forty, Granny Weatherall suffered of a second life changing jilting when her husband John died.
Applicable Theories of Criminal Behavior Social Risk Factors: He didn’t always live in poverty, but once his family wasn’t there he was in poverty. He also received rejection by his peers, when they often teased him because of his deformity. Parental and Family Risk Factors: His mother used a very authoritarian style to shape and control her sons. This caused irreparable damage to Gein throughout growing up. His mothers parental monitoring was too much, she never let Ed do anything and always kept him hidden.
While Dimmsdale had his congregation and duty to God to follow His word. Both sides of the relationship are shown through Pearl. She has an extreme habit of being disobedient to her father and her mother, something that both Hester and Dimmsdale composed when they were disobedient to God, but she is also beautiful and loving just like the passion that her mother and father felt for each other. Pearl, is a highly ambiguous character in The Scarlet Letter. She is not only a disobedient and untamed elf, but also a beautiful, flower like child.
See Scout always could see the upset look on May Ella face during the trial and so could Atticus that’s why he still felt pity on her even though she lied on Tom. It was as though she never really wanted to lie on Tom she just did because her father made her. She knew that all the things that she said Tom was doing to her, her father did them on the daily basics. Again this is another situation that Scout had to deal with and learn that she never really knew what she was going through until she walked in her shoes. Last but not least Boo Radley was another character from to kill a bird that helped Scout learn her lesson.
In conclusion the reader feels most sympathetic for George because taking care of Lennie caused him many unavoidedable problems, emotional burdens that will haunt him for the rest of his life, and a shattered dream. Without Lennie George is nothing but a lonley ranch worker, and his lonliness is what makes the reader feel most sympathetic for
I strived to succeed, so when I didn’t do my best I would get very upset with myself and try harder until I was the best. I hate the feeling of failure especially when I knew that I had tried my very hardest. My parents always told me try your hardest or don’t try at all, so anytime I lost at something I felt like I was letting them down. Like I said before the best feeling in the world is when your parents show pride in you, well how awesome that feels is coinciding with how horrible it feels when they are upset with me. Through the years I have learned what I am good at and what I don’t excel in.
Low brow entertainment was at an all time high and it was never more publicized. Talk shows like Geraldo Rivera, Ricki Lake, and above all Jerry Springer thrived during the decade. Any sort of level of decency had been shattered and it was a free for all. Commercializing all events no matter how unfortunate separated the 90’s from other generations. It had never been possible to keep people posted with copious amounts of meaningless bullshit, but with the advent of the internet, marketers soon found a larger platform to entertain the masses.
