MY FATHER IS A SUPERHERO BY: Rose D. Herras (A NARRATIVE ESSAY) “People shouldn’t dwell in the past, it’s enough to try your best in all that you’re doing now”. Whenever somebody ask you to describe your father, you commonly answer that he is very strict, handsome or maybe cruel. But there’s only one thing that describes my father as the best, a superhero. You may wonder why I could consider him as a superhero. Well, let’s find out why. It was a windy night when a loud cry of a new-born baby was heard that tore the silence of the night. It was the 30th day of October, year 1964 in the Masbate Provincial Hospital. The mother of the baby cried with happiness as she held him in her loving hands while his father helped her to carry him. His parents love him so much that they gave all their time for him. Their love and hardworks for him did bore fruit because he grew as an obedient and industrious child. When he was young, his father and he used to play basketball together. He used to sat on his father’s lap while his father tells him stories. So when his father died because of diabetes and he was only 11 years old, he was so frustrated of losing him. His father’s death marked as the worst time in his whole life but he tried to continue to live on. He had to sell newspapers, journals and magazines to earn money because his mother’s money is not yet enough to support his education. Amidst of all the hindrances he encountered in his life, he was able to graduate and become a teacher. He helped her younger sisters and brothers to fulfill their dreams. In a Summer Training Workshop for teachers, he met my beautiful and enthusiastic mother. They became friends until they fell in love with each other. Their love did bore three good fruits, my two sisters including me. Like his beloved father, he always tells us
