The career I have chosen to pursue is that of a Psychologist. I am interested in studying the human mind and body and how it functions and interacts. Psychology uses personality testing, interviewing, personal history, and observation to evaluate the psychology of a person. Because my interest is in the field of psychology I have chosen the career of School Psychologist. My career of school psychologist has many aspects. The beginning salary can start at 64,000 depending on the region and area of study. An average salary ranges anywhere from 67,000 to 71,000 annually. An exceptional salary would be 81,000 to 93,000 depending on the nature of school you practice at. School Psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Their job entails communicating with teachers, parents, and other mental health professionals to give students a safe, healthy, and supportive environment to thrive and learn. The education required for a school psychologist includes a Master's degree or a three year graduate degree in school psychology that includes a one year supervised internship. The skills needed to get a job as a school psychologist would include supporting students social, emotional, and behavioral health, teach parenting skills, evaluate services for special education programs, address learning and behavioral problems that interfere with school, and aid in referring community support service. Employers are looking for college or undergraduate degrees. Training in mental health, child development, learning, motivation, and assessment experience. School psychologists need to be certified or licensed by the state they choose to work in. This should include 60 graduate semester hours that include one year internship. There is always room for career advancement. There is a variety of schools that demand a psychologist. Public
