In high school, I continued to excel, with a new goal in mind, obtaining entrance into The National Honors Society. This elite society is for the top scholars of the school. I was placed in the AICE Program (Advance International Certificate of Education) which challenges my academic power. I succeeded in the most rigorist courses with the National Honors Society on my mind. My hard work soon paid off because in the spring of my 11th grade year I was inducted into the National Honors Society Gold Key Chapter.
Three years ago, I graduated from eighth grade and was super excited, yet a tab bit nervous to move forward to high school. What made me nervous the most was the work load, meeting new friends and also peer pressure. But despite all my fears, I thought “Hey, this would all my over at 3 o’clock.” So you can imagine what I thought that summer day, when my parents introduced Southland. “This will be a great experience for you! You’ll be the first graduating class, a great academic program, and also a nine hour school day..” (insert shocked face) This/that’s actually how my face looked!

They head back to that familiar house that so many good memories were kept. When Fella arrives he is greeted by Nana, Brody and Brit. They all smile as they see their recently added family member. Throughout the next couple weeks Fella started his homeschooling and planned to return to a public high school the following year. If you wouldn’t know everyone in that crazy house was good at something from school, you just needed to know who to ask.
The names Riyad and I’m blessed I’ve gotten to graduate from Saints Mary & Joseph School. I find it astonishing how someone could feel so personally connected to all the teachers, students, staff, & parents. I greatly appreciate everything they have done for my school and I. Looking back at the past 10 years of my life, I’ve seen how everyone has grown and changed; but only for the best. When I really take the time to think about it I wouldn’t want to grow and mature with any other class.

She will be leaving to go off to college and I wanted to do this not only for me but also to let her know that no matter how old or how things may seem anything is possible if you believe in yourself. I am proud that my kids look up to me as
College Connect has done great things for my family and I; it motivated me to apply for scholarships, inspired me to do well in school and most importantly, to dream big. As a first generation student, my parents and I had no idea about SAT’s, college applications, scholarships, etc.I had no idea what the whole process was like. However, due to the support and help that College Connect offered me, I have successfully been accepted to a four year college. For me the most helpful thing about College Connect is the fact that students can go into their office whenever a question arises. Everyone at College Connect is always supportive towards whatever the student is concerned about.
Mavis Rojas I can remember as if it was yesterday my twelve year old birthday. We had just moved to Vina del Mar, a beautiful city by the Pacific Ocean. My father bought me a red dress, he always knew what looked good on me. I loved spending time with him, he knew I was a growing fast and although I was a pretty confident girl, he made sure to assure me of his love and his acceptance towards me. I remember my father taking me to go for hikes up in the mountains and taking me rock climbing on his days off.
Personal Statement I am a firm believer that God will always put us in the right place, at the right time, and for the right reasons. After volunteering for two years as an AmeriCorps member for the Springdale School District, I was offered a position as an administrative assistant for a school-based health center in an elementary school. Up to that time, I had dreamed for many years of becoming a kindergarten teacher, so I thought to myself, “This is great! I’ll be able to get my foot in the door before I even finish my degree.” I accepted the position without thinking twice, and without knowing that I would be in for one of the most exciting journeys of my life! The school-based health center where I was hired to work at is composed of
