My family is extremely involved in music and my mother is a general music teacher. She has always made world connections to music. For example, music rhythms are completely based on math and fractions. Reinforcing these skill has helped me to compose my own compositions. Pitch is related to the science of frequency, vibration, and sound waves. This information is important when I experiment with amplifying my harp. Placing the microphone or pick-up in the correct location is dependent on the vibrations and pitch. Although I am an avid musician who plays the harp, saxophone, and piano. I have not had a great deal of training in the art of understanding the engineering and technology of various computer software. I enjoy making recording of myself and editing webcam videos but am eager to learn more this summer at the camp about the current technology trends. I enjoy playing acoustically as well as creating a completely different sound when amplified, however I am excited about the opportunity to learn new skills on how to make unique recordings and compositions with digital formats Music is an important part of my daily life. I am actively involved in our school and local community music orchestra and band programs. Playing standard jazz, classical and pop love pieces in a solo setting is also an enjoyment for me. My experience in the music making process has been with using traditional methods to create and perform music. However, I am eager to learn more about digital technology and how to electronically compose compositions. I am also interested in recording using software and editing tools to produce a variety of sound sources. Since we are a digital age, it seems important to explore how music can be safely stored and edited. Two years ago, I attend a workshop regarding Engineering careers for women.
