Unit 4222-212 Provide support to manage pain and discomfort (HSC 2003) Assessment Criteria Outcome 1 Understand approaches to managing pain and discomfort The learner can: 1. explain the importance of a holistic approach to managing pain and discomfort- relieving pain and inflammation without harming the body and promoting the body's healing response so that the area of injury is healed as quickly and completely as possible. 2. describe different approaches to alleviate pain and minimise discomfort-regime of rest, physiotherapy, medication and exercise. 3. outline agreed ways of working that relate to managing pain and discomfort-Follow company policy and procedure at all times. Talk to individual and see what best suits them and make as comfortable as possible. Administer any medication correctly and in accordance with care plans etc. and company policy.
