By making these foods their market is getting smaller because it is destroying the consumers, literally. Nowadays, someone has some sort of illness like cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Consumers are surrounded by advertisements, especially young children. Young children watch television a lot. Young children are the ones who are most on social media and they see so many advertisements it is unbelievable.
Most children imitate what they see a person do or say so if someone is doing something bad they will most likely copy that as well. Observational learning, social learning theory focuses on behavior modeling, in which the child observes and then imitates the behavior of adults or other children around him or her (Wiesner, Capaldi, Patterson,2003, p.318). Social learning is one cause of juvenile delinquent behavior because; juveniles who are easily persuaded are most likely to imitate everything they can see. A good example is the violence that is portrayed on television it can have a huge negative impact on the behavior of some children. The next reason why juveniles commit delinquent acts is child abuse.
In many games, kids are rewarded for being more violent. The act of violence is done repeatedly. The child is in control of the violence and experiences the violence in his own eyes including killings, kicking, stabbing and shooting. This active participation, repetition and reward are effective tools for learning behavior. Indeed, many studies seem to indicate that violent video games may be related to aggressive behavior (Main #2) Too much video game playing makes your kid socially isolated.
In this essay I will be talking about how children are affected by television. Although many parents these days do not want their children to watch television, there are a lot of educational shows available today. Many parents may not want their children to watch modern television, and I would have to tell those parents that there are some shows out there these days that are very educational and they are aimed towards the young. Watching the educational cartoons can be very helpful for a child’s mind. There can be positive results emotionally, physically, and psychologically.
The author not only discussed the shortcomings of the research article, but she made valid points as to how the research was meaningful and significant. The impact of the article leaves readers with the sense that there needs to be a change in what our children are watching. The research study proved that even in as little as nine minutes children’s overall cognitive functioning decreases when watching fast paced shows. By watching these fast paced shows (compared to drawing or educational programs) children are being primed to be A.D.H.D like impulsive and are not being able to control their attention spans, solve problems, or handle delay of gratification and working memory dilemmas. There are millions of different types of movies, and hundreds of different targeted audiences, but all of these movies have one thing in common-to catch the eye of their specific audience. Movies such as comedies, documentaries and dramas can have a negative effect on children of today’s society. The big screen movie Ted is a perfect example of a comedy bearing negative influence on its viewers and consumers. A marketing strategy used a lovable cute kid’s toy and turned him into a cursing, sex loving, marijuana smoking stuffed animal. This strategy was able to attract children of all ages to the movie theater to watch a cute little toy bear become a grown man’s best friend that leads to all type of negative behaviors.
English Composition I April 1, 2013 Are Certain TV Shows Bad For A Young Child? Kids learn just about anything from what they see on TV. They watch educational shows like Sesame Street, Beakman’s World, etc. Shows like these have great educational tools that they teach kids so they can grow up with knowing what’s wrong and what’s right. But if a kid is left alone or unsupervised they could watch shows that encourage them to act differently than usual.
The audience of both these films would be younger children and parents who take their kids to watch these movies. At such a young age, these children are already being shown films which display a false interpretation of different cultures and their way of living. I believe this is very problematic. It’s not okay to teach the younger generation about false interpretations about other societies and cultures.
