Amy Nguyen Film review - The Vow After reading film review - The Vow on latimesblog. Most of the reaction is negative. They considered the movie is still "pretty weak" compare to what The Vow's director claimed before the movie came out. This movie is basically based on a true story about this young married couple enjoy a snowy evening in Chicago. Then a car accident sends Paige (the female character played by Rachel McAdams) through the windshield ad into a coma, from which she emerges even more adorable than ever but also with amnesia. Apparently she doesn't recognize her husband Leo - played by Channing Tatum nor the times they spent together. Ironically, Paige seems to revert to an earlier version of herself, the time that she hasn't met Leo. She was estranged from her wealthy parents and have a successful businessman as her fiancé. Despite the fact that she can't remember him, her husband still dropped everything and try to gain her back. Most of the criticize are about how the movie can be more than just a "cheesy valentine movie". According to The New York Times' A.O. Scott "this could have been a rich, strange melodrama; a psychological thriller; a horror movie; a dark comedy; or any combination of these, and scholarly viewers can relieve the tedium by imagining it remade by more daring filmmakers" Which mean that the movie wasn't a big success like what it said. Over all i think the viewer expect more than what the movie carried, something more than just a valentine's
