The need of self employed to have control over her time making money; the expectancy theory of motivation. By looking ahead Ms. Sheets saw the opportunity to have her own business and eventually create a franchise; the equity theory of motivation. She believed in self efficacy, training her employees to give them more control to empower them, expanding their responsibilities; job enrichment theory of motivation. The Siemens case has the five theories of motivation: Maslow's needs hierarchy, job enrichment, expectancy, goal setting and equity goal.
Developing the franchise and allowing others to buy a part of the business to own and run them gave people control over how they ran and grew their portion of the business. Creating Stick Men U, a training university, that taught owners, and movers, the importance of customer first customer service, and how to move property without damaging it, demonstrates the expectancy theory (Jones, 2007). The university and computer lab gives the owners and movers the tools or knowledge needed to perform at their highest level in order to receive their desired rewards. The extensive training provided to the owners and movers is how Mary Ellen created high performing teams within the company. In the second case study of Siemens, and the unit of the company that makes medical diagnostic machines, Klaus Kleinfeld, a 40-year-old new boss, used the Maslow’s Need for Hierarchy, expectancy, and goal setting theories.
Tutorial 5 – Attracting and Retaining Staff Tutorial Activity 1: Student Facilitation Activity Questions: Theory: 1. Explain why attraction and retention of employees is important to an organisation. Use examples from the Excellent Research University case (or a related example from your own experience) to demonstrate understanding. Attraction of employees is important because it introduces new workers to a business who may possess great talents. Retention is also important due to the fact that a business would not want to lose these talented individuals since they have contributed greatly to the business.
I have future plans of becoming a counselor or a life coach, I plan to make the final decision on which one when I have had a chance to practice as an intern; That is how I think I will learn better which one is more suitable for me personally. I also chose to attend college because I want to set a good example for my children. It makes much more sense for them to see me going to college, rather than for them to just hear me tell them why I feel it is so important that they go. I understand that, by my choice to attend college, there will be obstacles and fears that I will need to overcome and work through, but my goals and strengths will help me through this. I chose Lackawanna College because I felt that the programs offered here would help as a starting point towards achieving my goal to further my education, and to eventually transfer to another college after getting a degree in Human Services at Lackawanna College.
(Berridge, 2004) Drive as a Motivational Factor in the Workplace (Applicable) What drives each of us to endure the hustle and bustle of our daily routines of being working adults? Are we really driven by something to go to work every day? For me, the motivation and drive to go to work stems from the very powerful necessity of bringing home a paycheck. I am not automatically driven to go to work because of the pleasure or satisfaction I get from it. My first and foremost motivation in going to work is monetarily driven, meaning if I did not receiving a paycheck I would not go.

An area they differed in perspective, however, was the value proposition in serving their customers. Hyde Park focused on operational excellence and viewed customer service in terms of product quality and time to market. Their view was that increased sales and repeat customers were a direct indicator of customer satisfaction.
