He believes that it deters other murders. Ending one life may sound horrible. However, if this may reduce the number of innocent people got killed; I think I’ll agree with the writer as well. Imagine one of your family members who just went out from a shopping centre suddenly got shot. Many of us will want the murderer to get capital punishment. Most people fear death The capital punishment should make them fear of killing others. I think capital punishment do scare those people who want to commit crime. However nowadays, a lot of people will just kill others because in the end, they will commit suicide. Hence, in this case, the capital punishment doesn’t really scare them. For example is the case in NTU a few weeks ago. A student tried to kill a professor, although it was a failed attempt, and then committed suicide. However, many people think that capital punishment should be abolished. A state has no moral right to take anyone’s life. Comparing the effect of the abolishment, the number of innocent people get killed may increase. If each murderer get executed, there innocent people are saved. However, we cannot forget the fact that people can change. There is a chance that these murderers regretted what they have done and decided not to kill others anymore. Thus, by executing these people, actually no innocent people are saved. However, I still think that there should be capital punishment for murderers because if they can change their minds to be good people, it is also possible for them to change their minds to be bad again.
