There are certain objects in our lives that are very important in order to survive. In our society these ‘objects’ have a cost to them, it can be an emotional or physical cost, but the cost usually has a dollar sign attached. Our society is ran by money and the love of money has led many people in our society in a wrong direction, pursuing one thing, fortune and glory. In middle school I was carried away by the wave of main stream hip hop. I pressed play, 50 cent’s rap music was echoing through the room. I was nodding my head with the rhythm, moving my body with grooving. As days and months passed, my mouth starts rapping the lyrics itself. Its too late, the devil’s red juice already reached the mind’s bottleneck. The speaker was spitting words about money, sex, and violence. I was entirely brainwashed. My brain processed differently after, thinking that money is all powerful. I believe that having a lot of money can bring them to the satisfaction of which people have dreamed. Until one day, I asked my mother “Do you think you can buy anything with money?” she replied back in a peaceful voice “No son, money can let you experience luxury but you can’t buy trust nor buy a pure friendship.” In that moment, those powerful words shattered the mirror wall of confusion. I realized how I was tainted by a pathetic mind. Many people, because of their desires to have more money will do anything, they will acquire what they really want even to go to every expedient. Money can be acquired in many ways. Most people will work or creating a business to accumulate and increase the amount of money they have. In obsession people might pawn their expensive accessories to obtain instant money. The worst of all is to risk ones own life and dignity by crime to get money. The reality we should embrace is that but it does not follow that money is the only reason of our existence
