Everyone measures financial success in a different way. For me financial success is the ability to afford a decent home, provide food for my family, buy affordable clothing, and have a decent car. In all reality, everything else is a want and not a necessity. The ultimate goal in my life is to make an impact on this world by changing lives. If I need to give up a mansion, expensive clothing, and a luxurious lifestyle to change lives, that is what I will do. Serving others is more important than being the richest person in the world. Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work. -Mother Theresa The last two years I have volunteered at different non-profit agencies, gone on service projects, and have helped Habitat for Humanity. It has been a great experience and has showed me how much help others need. This inspired me to become a social worker and dedicate my future career to helping out those in need. Along this journey I have noticed that programs, services, and fundraisers are impossible without financial backing. You can volunteer for hours, days, and even years, but it is impossible to help others without money. Yes, I want to be financially successful, but I cannot lose sight of helping others. My balance between financial success and serving others will be having enough money to take care of my basic needs and using the rest of my money to donate to others who cannot afford their own necessities. I have learned that what you have been given you should use to help others. Serving others is so important and should never be forgotten.
