Kiely said around 78% of outside spending in 2012 – $365m of the total $465m – could be attributed to the “Citizens United effect”. The 2010 ruling by the supreme court in the case of Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission allowed corporations and unions to spend unlimited money on campaigning, enabling Super Pacs to spend unlimited amounts as long as they had no coordination with the candidates they support. In reality, those running Super PACs have often have close ties to political parties. Former George W Bush advisor Karl Rove runs the conservative American Crossroads Super Pac, while Restore Our Future, a pro-Mitt Romney Super Pac, was founded by former Romney aides. The money spent by Super Pacs, unions, corporations and non-profit groups is more than double what those groups spent in 2010, the first campaign in which the supreme court judgment had taken effect.
The passing of the Federal Election Campaign Act in 1972 and then the creation of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in 1974 were massive advancements to regulate campaign financing. Forcing candidates to disclose donation totals and campaign expenditures along with putting limits on donations, this course of action proved to be successful. In more recent times the FEC went head to head against Citizen United where the Supreme Court ruled that the government cant regulate independent political expenditures by non-profit organizations under the first amendment. Since then this principle has spread to for profit corporations, Unions and other groups. Decisions made by the Supreme Court can have far reaching consequence in
The organization also publishes a monthly magazine known as the "Multinational Monitor." In 2001, Ralph Nader started up another non-profit organization known as Democracy Rising. This organization was dedicated to ending the War in Iraq, and bringing the troops back to America. The political opinions that Ralph Nader is so well known for would make him one of the highest rated presidents that America has ever seen. In his 2000 bid for the presidency Ralph Nader campaigned against the corporate powers dominance in the political landscape as well as the need for change in the manner of how presidential races are held.
The advertisement begins by stating, “Gingrich was fined $300,000 by a Republican congress for ethics violations” (Restore Our Future), and includes that Rick Perry found a loophole in his contract to add a $90,000 pension to his already $150,000 salary. The ad uses these as reasons to support its claim about Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry having too many issues with ethics and not trying to break those ethics. Furthermore, the ad supports its other half of the claim, that they are also far too liberal on immigration, by stating that Gingrich supports amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants and that Perry has given illegal immigrants in-state tuition to college. The reasons that the ad uses start to provoke questions in the audience, but leave an open space about whether or not any of the claim is true or not. The only reason anyone should believe any of the reasons or the claim itself is because of the warrants that are used in the

In his novel The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald describes the corrupt society in the East during the Roaring Twenties. During this period, everyone seems to be happy and enjoying their lives. However, Fitzgerald demonstrates that economic prosperity can be easily misunderstood by suggesting that money is a source of corruption.
Would Herman Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan get you to vote for him? FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty: Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is breathing down Mitt Romney's neck – and much of the attention he's getting is focused on his 9-9-9 tax plan. Cain talks about this plan, and how it would stimulate economic growth, a lot. Whether you agree or disagree with Cain's tax plan, there's no doubt it would simplify our complicated tax code. The 9-9-9 plan would get rid of almost all of the current taxes and replace them with: •A 9% flat federal individual income tax •– A 9% flat federal corporate tax •– And a new 9% national sales tax Not everyone is sold.
The presidential election is an event that all Americans should pay attention to and understand what each candidate stands for. It is evident that President Obama’s programs are far more different than Governor Romney’s programs. President Obama is socialist, and Governor Romney is for the free enterprise system. Key points such as bigger government, regulations, higher taxes, unions, Obama Care, small businesses, and free enterprise are just a few major points in this election. During the debates, President Obama made it clear that he wants a bigger government.
The halftime super bowl commercial truly does support the idea of the company’s persistence. Marchionne took on the once thought impossible task with the help of the Bush and Obama administration. Still, Several politicians, such as Karl Rove, who argues that the ad was a strategically placed commercial used to praise and support Obama during the 2012 reelection, feeling the need to “repay their political patrons,” (Stewart). Although these ideas are brought about, Marchionne continues to stand on his current position over the ad. “We are as apolitical as you can make us…” states Marchionne; he continues to say the ad was a tribute to Chrysler employees, and how the ad was used “because it says something…about the resilience of America,” (Bury).
A Presidential election was held in the year of 1972 in the United States. “The Presidential trip makes sense only if it is to serve the purpose of its domestic electoral impact.”12 Meaning, the president’s reasoning behind the trip is to get votes in the presidential election in November. To boost his credibility he broke twenty two years of policy and fear to impress upon the people of the United States that he was “a master of foreign policy”13 and the right man for the job. Nixon’s “dramatic and heroic decision” was publicized even more through television. The “drama” of the visit created hype as never seen before.14 The American people believed in the sentimentality of the trip.15 They really thought that this trip would change the course of the whole world forever, which needless to say, it was not.
The first example of this is the rich, wealthy and business like people. They support republicans by donating money towards the republican party for the presidential candidates to have a successful and effective campaign. Many influential republican donors are based in New York, such people like Kenneth G. Langone, a billionaire Home Depot founder who supports the campaign of Republican governor Chris Christie of New Jersey run for president. Such people will get certain deals and are linked to the party, they donate their money in order to get low tax which is a tradition for the Republicans. Meaning more middle class (who more or less support Democrats) people pay higher taxes, while richer people save their money.
