Courtney Knece Stephan Logan ENG 254 April 17, 2012 Modern Family On September 23, 2009 Modern Family premiered on ABC. Modern Family is now on their third season. In 2010, Modern Family was the sixteenth highest revenue earning show on television, making 1.6 million dollars an episode. What makes this show so great? Well, family structure plays a huge part in this sitcom (“Modern Family” TV). The show has three very different families. Through one television show we are able to see a multicultural couple, whom is Jay Pritchett and wife Gloria Delgado. There is a straight couple, Phil and wife Claire Dunphy. The third couple is a gay couple, whom is Mitchell Pritchett and his partner Cameron (“Modern Family” ABC). We are able to experience different social classes through this unconventional family in the hit comedy, Modern Family. The head of the family is Jay Pritchett, who is re- married and has two children of his own, and one step-child (“Modern Family” IMDB). Jay’s first wife dies, leaving Jay a widow. His biological children are Claire, and Mitchell. Jay’s twelve year old step-son is Manny. Jay is an older man, who is on his second marriage to “a much younger Columbian beauty named Gloria Delgado” (“Modern Family” ABC). Jay and Gloria tend to have cultural clashes throughout the seasons (“Modern Family” IMDB). Gloria and Manny are taking this no-nonsense type of guy and forcing him to change the way he does things, and embrace the life he has. Jay is a family man, and would do anything for his family. Gloria has been questioned on her intensions with Jay, since he has money it is assumed she is after that; which we know is not true. Gloria is also on her second marriage. She is very passionate, and loves Jay and Manny more than anything. Gloria will always say what is on her mind, and really does enjoy life, which is why Jay fell in love with
