Colorado Technical University Online 14 Individual Project 4 Modern American History: 1992-2000 Robert W D’Agostino Jr. Abstract In this individual project I would like to talk about two subjects that have changed America over the years. The first subject would be about the use of Wal-Mart and how everyone uses it. The second topic is going to be about the Clinton scandals throughout this time period. Many things and events have helped change America over the years, but there is a particular time from 1992-2000 that really stands out. The creator of the store was a man by the name of Sam Walton. Sam was always about the better deal even back then. He could always be found looking for better deals from the suppliers thus beginning Wal-Mart’s slogan which has always been “always low prices, always.” Mr. Walton believed in the bigger better deal for himself back then and it just stuck in every Wal-Mart that you will see now a days. Although Mr. Walton was ranked as one of the richest men in America, he still lived freakishly cheap with everything he did. He lived like an average person in poverty. He never paid more than five dollars for a haircut and never tipped, whenever he and his associates flew for a business trip they always flew coach, and they would always share a pot of coffee asking for a ten cent contribution to the coffee tin. I think it’s pretty easy to see just how popular this store has become over the years and just how popular that it’s going to be in the near to distant future. He may have had good intentions for the country in a political way but the scandal ruined him as a leader and lost the trust of the American people. We knew that we couldn’t believe anything else that came out of his mouth whether good or bad ever again. He was caught in a lie that he couldn’t talk his way out of this time. The lies lead to his impeachment and many years of being the black sheep as well as the outcast. However, he will be one of the presidents to go down in history for his scandals whether good or bad. Over time, however, it would appear as if this never happened. Only 15 years after the scandal and Clinton’s stock has never been higher. Still, I think that if he never would have done what he had done, he may have had a very successful term or two as president and a very grateful
