He has overlooked at answering mobile phone while having a conversation is impolite and it interrupts the conversation. In addition, the author is guilty of oversimplification when Ingram considers the relationship between mobile phones and the concentration of young people. First of all, the author is guilty of overgeneralisation when he considers an example about Horlick and his student. The example is that when they have conversation, a student has a call, and she answers a mobile phone. This thing makes her teacher feel impolite.
This quote shows that the bullies are more concentrated on bullying their victims rather than their school work. This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). This evidence is important because the victims are scared of bullies and are really not concentrating in school like before they began to be bullied. Multiple victims who are hurt from being bullied are starting to fail in school.
However, text messaging has been a major problem with students texting in class interfering with the disruption of their learning. Most teachers express how they feel about cell phones being a distraction to others, however very few students have complaints about the use of cell phones in class. Text messaging in class should be allowed by choice of the students, it can easily be discreet and the possibility of an emergency. Text messaging in class should be allowed by the choice of students. In the argument “Tapping into Text Messaging” by Janet Kornblum, says teens, techies and other early adopters leading the charge to text say it is a great way to communicate when they are too busy to talk or when making a call would be rude or impractical.
When students send texts, they don’t use periods because they forget or don’t think they need them. This mistake can lead to students leaving out period in sentences in writing which taint the normal writing seen. Also, the uses of commas are completely exempt from text messages which make them absent in their writing. Without commas you just have one big run-on sentence that many kids write now because of text messages. These simple rules that conduct a proper sentence are ignored because students are used to not using them in text messages.
Video games are not the source of violence but they are consistently blamed; parents need to make sure that their own children are not exposed to media hype that would be considered as violent or damaging to their own kids. The media truly believes they are the scapegoat for anything that goes wrong with today’s society. Today’s parents are naïve and ignorant to the fact that they do not know how to regulate the things their children watch and they cannot control their own kids behavior so they immediately point the blame on someone else. They need to teach their children good morals and show them how playing with guns can change their lives forever. People who own guns need to keep them put away and out of the reach of children.
Also, if the child does not perform at his/her best, it greatly reduces the self-esteem not only of the child but the parents as well. The child and parents will receive continuous negative comments and feel pushed away. A child with ADHD’s most difficult environment is in a classroom being told to sit still, do not move, do not talk, and to pay attention to worksheets and finish them. None of these things come easily to parents whose child has ADHD, but day by day, off to school the children
Personally speaking, I wouldn’t want to come to class everyday if I know my teacher had a gun in the class. The fact that a gun is in the class can mess with a student’s learning, because instead of focusing on their lesson, they would be focusing on the danger they could possibly be in. As student, we should feel comfortable around our teachers if we don’t feel comfortable around anyone else. Schools shouldn’t be a place of fear. Schools are not safe anymore because of the violence that goes on in schools and sometimes deadly school shootings.
Censorship of Books in School Should people be able to deny a student’s freedom to read any book they want to at school? Every time an adult bans a book, children lose the chance to gain knowledge from it. The students’ outlook on the world becomes narrower as they lose access to an insightful piece of literature, and prohibiting books like that limits a students’ access to fantastic literary texts. Book censorship in schools limits the education of minors, and the students’ can’t receive the full knowledge inside. Book banning has a huge negative effect on how students live, at school as well as at home.
Anything in life should not be given to anyone it should be earned or suffer the consequence. The fear of failing for some students is scary, he or she does not want to fail and if there motivated the student would most likely try harder and pay more attention in school. In example, when I was in high school I would never concentrate on social studies thinking it was important to me and one day my teacher came up to me telling me I would fail and not graduate this year because of my lack of effort in his class. From there on it got me thinking of my future and I didn’t want to fail and be back in high school for another year for stupid mistakes I made, so the next semester I work harder then ever and passed the class with an A. Sometimes a little motivation and being afraid of failure can motivate someone to work
They refuse to go outside to play with their friends or to enjoy nature at it's best, they throw a tantrum when their parents want to spend time with them, and they are constantly busy on their phones, computers or television. I believe that the growth of technology has negatively influenced the social interactions of today's youth because it isolates children from reality, decreasing children's mobility, forcing children to become more anti-social and losing the social skills that goes along with it. First, technology have a negative influence on children, because it separates them from reality. As a child, I took my time and enjoyed the simpler
