Minimum Wage Solutions Essay If you have ever worked for minimum wage, like I am right now, I am sure you have felt as if your time was worthless. After taxes I bring home next to nothing, no matter how often I work. That's at least how I feel right now that I am working for minimum wage at the movie theater. In high school I had nothing to pay for but a cell phone. At that time I still was working for minimum wage and it seemed like I could barely afford it. I had basically no bills and I worked around twenty hours a week and it seemed like I couldn't save any money, or really help out my parents with any of the bills. This was, and still is, a problem for me and I am sure it is not only an issue I am dealing with. I always wondered how my coworkers, who were adults, and who had real things to pay for, pulled it off. This makes me wonder, is the minimum wage really high enough? Even though everyone would want to say no to this question I am going to have to say its fine where it’s at right now. People don’t normally look at the big picture of something they think is so simple. Most of us would just say raise it a little so that low income americans won’t have to struggle so much. It may not surprise people but, it’s not only teenagers that work at these minimum wage paying jobs, there are also many adults that are trying to make a living and are forced to work minimum wage jobs. I am sure they would appreciate a raise, but I believe leaving the minimum wage where its at just forces adults who have little to no skills or education, to go back to school to get the knowledge they need for a career in order to have a more comfortable future. When the minimum wage is raised, businesses have to raise the price on whatever products or services they offer, to offset the loss of profits from having to pay the employees more money.
