Introduction In every organization, there is certainly a team leader who will take charge and make certain decision on behalf of the firm with regards to its goals and objectives. My team was put through a series of challenge by climbing up Mount Everest virtually with certain difficulties ad critical conditions. I was assigned the job role as a Team Leader and was participating in the simulation with the purpose of decision-making and taking a strong leadership initiative among the group to achieve the goals. The Everest Simulation was an unique experience. My individual score was 70%, although our team has succeeded in completing the Everest Simulation in three hours without anyone being rescued as well as finishing with a total group score of 72%. I felt that the simulation was a well organised activity which helped me to understand more about planning and cooperating in tangible business situations. There were two key issues that were developed; leadership and ethical and social responsibility, during the simulation Leadership Leadership is the ability to influence people towards the attainment of organisational goals.Denoting to this definition of leadership, the significant leadership issue that was confronted duringthe Everest Simulation was the lack of task focus which led to rushing through the simulation. According to Fiedler’s Contingency Theory the leader’s style is task oriented with its team members.A task-focus leader is primarily motivated by task accomplishment, which is similar to the initiatingstructure. Whilst diagnosing the leadership situation task focus could be high as well a low. Task-focused leaders are more effective when the situation is either highly favourable or highlyunfavourable.
