Course Project Proposal
Overview of the Organization The organization that will be the topic for my course project is Global Systems Group. Founded in 1969, Global is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. Global is headquartered in Dallastown, Pennsylvania and has approximately 250 employees. They are a leader in the design and manufacturing of modular and tactical shelters for use by the U.S. Military with customers that include: Worldwide, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. I am currently employed by Worldwide Defense Systems, based out of Boston, Massachusetts. However, I work as a Supplier Quality Manager that is resident at the Global facility and oversee 3 Worldwide programs. In this capacity, I am responsible for providing quality and technical support to Global with regards to interpretation of the Worldwide Technical Data Package and the acceptance criteria for the Major End Items that Global produces. In addition, I am responsible for independently conducting various types of audits to determine compliance to various quality assurance flowdown requirements that are imposed by Worldwide. These audits require that I work closely with the Global Quality Assurance organization to analyze and interpret the issues found as a result of these audits. This includes, but is not limited to, special manufacturing processes, internal manufacturing procedures and policies. These audits are performed with the goal of improving the quality of the end product that is ultimately supplied to the U.S. Warfighter.
