It safeguarded our standing in the world. Mike Rose's school offered quite the opposite. It was a haven for long standing views on school being selective as to whom actually deserved the education. The only hope of the present school system is a few dedicated professionals. They could see the errors of the future and grasp to what made the system work in the past.
Due to that I was placed in to “back to the basics” classes, everything I went to Independent studies to get away from. I knew whatever decision I made I would have to live with the outcome of that decision. I had to choose between several important things during this time of year. Others go to college with a fork in the road outlook on college. They assume they are going to fail or if they are they are going to succeed. This group of people has a fixed mindset. When I first went to college, I had a bit of both. I knew I could succeed in whatever I wanted to do with my life, but the problem was I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.

Back to School Ramona Dory English 121- Week 3 Assignment Andrea Pfaff - Instructor Regan Tuttle - TA October 10, 2011 Back to School I never thought I would be 43 years old and going back to school. I will be talking about going back to school and why I decided to go back to school to get a degree. I always planned to go to college, after I graduated high school; I attend a technical school and got a diploma in Data Entry. I thought that would help me find a job so that I would be able to go to college, but I was not able to find a job in that field, so I was just working where I could in order to pay bills. I attempt several times before now to go back to school, but always got side track or something distracted me.
Returning to School A year ago I never would have imagined that I would be back in school. It was something I had wanted to do, but I had continued putting it off. It was never the right time, or I could not figure out how to manage everything, or even how I was going to pay for it. Lately, I have been going through a lot of personal changes that has made me also want to better my place in life. Deciding to continue my education, I felt, was the best way to do this.
I began to realize that I can’t do this my entire life. I overwhelmed myself with questions: “Is going back to college is the right decision? How do I pay for it? Do I have time? Am I ready to commit to this major life-change?
