Growing up has helped me understand that not everyone is like I am. Every person in this world has their own set of beliefs and ideals. I have never had a problem when it comes to meeting strangers; I mean at a certain point your best friend was a stranger once. I believe that meeting and interacting with new people is very important for our development in life. Culture does not make a difference for me when it comes to meeting people.
Communication Theory Barbara J. Walker HCS/320 7/18/2011 Kristin Thrun INTRODUCTION When working in teams sometimes it can be hard especially when you have one person that doesn’t want to cooperate. It also can be a lot of fun when you get the right kind of people. You may find some people that want to take charge and do all the work instead of working with a team. Then you have the ones that are laid back and don’t care as long as they are working. I enjoy working with a team because you get to meet new people while you are working and it makes the time go by fast.
Occasional arguments are good for friendship relationships. The trick is to learn how to do it fairly. Occasional arguments help us to learn how to better understand each other, gives us room to freely express ourselves, and they don’t allow problems about certain situations to build up one after another. An argument is defined as a reason or set of reasons given with the aim of persuading others that an action, idea, or thought is right or wrong. In order to have a friendship that works or is healthy you have to argue sometimes to better understand the other person.
Describe different ways to help an individual challenge decisions made by others (such as medical practitioners, social care workers and family members: Standing up for people that are self-confident or that lack confidence ensuring that they aware that the individual is unhappy, but ensuring that you are not putting words into their mouths and interrupting them while they are speaking. If while you are attending the meeting you feel that they are confusing the individual then you can speak out as an advocate. You may also have to write to certain people about a matter and must ensure you make clear and explain to them what you are writing and also ensuring that you are writing word for word in what they want to

The goals that were talked about in earlier sessions are beginning to be embraced by the client, who is questioning the counsellor more, in an effort to start the changes. Words like “so when are we goal setting please?” And “I really feel you’re helping me see the light” are also affirming statements. Along with this, the client’s appearance may have changed, as may their facial expressions. The positive-ness with which they are starting the sessions also are a dead giveaway. The client may also come to the sessions having drawn up their own plans for progressing.
Cultural Influences on Context: The Educational Setting Language, Culture, and Communication In this chapter the author Amber Laurin focuses on the importance and the influence that the educational setting has on intercultural interaction. The view of and approaches to education are valuable sources when it comes to culture. Different cultures have different approaches to formal learning and knowledge in general, and by studying them one can gain information about the background of people from those cultures. It is important to know, that however different cultures may seem, in their core they are very similar because they all share elements such as social structure, needs, and desires, thus their educational systems teach the same thing – culture and how it passes on from one generation to the other. Our culture shapes our education, and that is why instructors need to be aware of it and to try to be effective communicators, especially in multicultural environments such as ours.
The goals should also be in coordination with your values and your purpose for the goals. It can often depend on what the couples are coming to counseling for in order to help the couple decide on what some of their goals should be. For example: A couple may come into the counselor office and needs help with their relationship because they seem to always argue. One of their goals could be how to help them minimize and eventually stop arguing so much and be able to discuss things in a decent manner. Goals can and will sometimes go wrong.
On the other hand, sometimes I would rather learning on my own. A good and experienced teacher can help me learn faster and easier. Sometimes when learning a course by myself which is hard and confusing to understand and has few sources available, I get discouraged after spending a lot of time. In this situation, I’ll look for a teacher and request for help from him or her. And then he or she will teach me the course efficiently in a short time and therefore I will learn faster and better and won’t get discouraged and confused.
