For the overall story, this hints to all the readers that, even after being proven wrong, Victor will continue his bias. His lack in thought process is the original cause of his own pain and suffering. Before the completion of the creature, what is seen to be the evil, which is his stubbornness, in Victor causes not only causes pain
He eventually finds his own morals and tells himself what is right and what is wrong. Part of this realization came from him helping Jim, which troubled his mind because of what society said about helping him. But he then based his decision to help on his own experiences and logic. That is kind of what Fahrenheit 451 puts forth. But instead of trying to gain knowledge it is being destroyed, all because society is trying to promote ignorance which causes sameness in all.
I don’t think he is a good man just because he trying to fix what he did, but the thing is that what has happened, happened and you can’t change that. Yes he is trying fixing it but I wouldn’t call him a good man because of his actions. The actions are what make the people either good people or bad people. In Antigone there are both bad and good people. In Teirsias’s mind he would probably say they were all good people because when they did something wrong they tried to fix it.
As he said that in fact evil comes from angels and human beings who chose deliberately to deny and disobey what God had taught them, by turning away from him and what he had wished for mankind. Augustine believed that every human being was an offshoot of Adam and hence that every single person in the world is guilty of evil, this is as it was Adam who committed ultimate sin in the Garden of Eden. Augustine believed very strongly that evil should be punished. Therefore it was Augustine’s theodicy that said that natural evil in the world is a fitting punishment for moral wickedness. He strongly believed that evil is solely a result of human rebellion.
Small though it be, it will make many mistakes, because it will be composed of men. Discord will reign there” (Democracy, Voltaire). His opinions on the pursuit of progress with abandon were that progress should be sought after but not without humanity and rationale in mind. He would not have wanted progress to be had on the sacrifice of human rights or the loss of rationality. He was somebody who “believed in progress and in the virtues of civilization, contrary to Rousseau’s belief that civilization corrupts man” (Voltaire, New World Encyclopedia).
Reverend Parris was the opposite to John Proctor, he also feared for his name but not in the same way. Parris was a selfish man, only thinking about money. He was too scared to follow
The Judeo Christian position is that human nature is both good and bad because man is sinful yet created with the ability to choose good. One’s human nature deeply influences the methods in which they view themselves and others, as well as how that person lives. In both the discussion of the scientific method and the use of biblical interpretation there is no possible way to stop personal values from affecting one’s thinking. Human nature is susceptible to many flaws. Every person, scientist and lay person, Christian and non-Christian, is guilty of some form of bias.
Evans was clearly a racist, evil man that found any words to sugarcoat the evil he wanted to inflict. He obviously has no respect for people as humans if he can call another being “parasites” and claim that part of being American is keeping the people inbred. Clancy on the other hand just seems to want to be fair and logic while keeping the law firm. He is more logic in the sense that he realizes immigrants are not problems, they are people, but people can be difficult as well. He makes it clear that all immigrants have positive and negatives because they are people not because their race makes any difference in their functionality as a hard working human.
Basically this life is all you have so do what you want. Even those these religions have very different beliefs they do have some similarities. This paper will compare and contrast various aspects of both of these belief systems. “The gods are not to be feared; death cannot be felt; the good can be won; all that we dread can be conquered.” -- Epicurus. (webspace.ship.edu/) An Epicurean mindset is that this life will be over and there is nothing else. With Epicurus's one constant problem with God was evil.
However, in the case that he lacked omnibenevolence, evil would still cast a dark shadow in the world because perhaps God does not desire to relieve it. In actuality, God can be all three, and evil can and does exist. This is true because God is not responsible for the evil in the world. Evil blemishes the world wherever the world is lacking in goodness. If evil did not taint the world, the world would lack good and freewill, too.
