There are many good role models to choose from, role models that can inspire or motivate us in so many different ways. The definition of a role model is a person whose behavior in a particular role is imitated by others. A true role model possesses qualities that we would like to have and they have affected our lives in ways that makes us a better person. Well, my role model that I have chosen is a person that went far beyond any other women has done in their career life and this women is still on “over drive” into making her life and company even better, the role model I chose is Meg Whitman. Meg Whitman was born on 1957, she grew up in Cold Spring Harbor, a posh waterfront community in Long Island, New York. Her mother’s achievement was an important part of her life. Her mother traveled overseas in China for a Women’s Delegations and accomplished goals that opened up the Asian Market to Foreigners. Whitman recalled in an interview with Christian Science Monitor Journalist Patrick Dillion, “she spoken about what this experience had taught her. She realized she could do anything she wanted and she wanted me (Meg) to recognize that I could do the same.” Meg Whitman became an Oprah-Like figure. Fortune Magazine twice named her (in 2004 and 2005) the most powerful women in the American Business. She was also featured in Forbes Magazine in its 2007 list of best Bosses for delivering “Superior returns to shareholders while not gorging on outrageous pay packages.” In 2009, Meg Whitman began her political career and ran for Governor of California. As a role model she hasn’t forgotten where she came from, how she got to where she is now and always looked back to see if she could help those who came from that same place.
