Bi Weekly Paper Does the media have a liberal bias? Media bias refers to the bias of journalists and news producers within the mass media in the selection of which events and stories are reported and how they are covered. The term "media bias" shows a pervasive bias contravening the standards of journalism, rather than the perspective of an individual journalist or article. The direction and degree of media bias in various countries is widely disputed. I believe that the media has a liberal bias. Their have been practical limitations to media that include the inability of journalists to report all available stories and facts, and the requirement that selected facts be linked into a logical storyline. Since it is impossible to report everything, selectivity is inevitable. Market forces that result in a biased presentation include the ownership of the news source, concentration, and the selection of staff, the preferences of an intended audience, and pressure from advertisers. An example of a media bias is “Advertising”, it includes the name of a product or service and how that product or service could benefit the consumer, to persuade a target market to purchase or to consume that particular brand. These brands are usually paid for or identified through sponsors and viewed via various media. Media today is also corrupting the minds of the people living here in America. 66% of children (ages 10 to 16) surveyed say that their peers are influenced by V shows,62% say that sex on TV shows and movies influences kids to have sex when they are too young,77% say there is too much sex before marriage on television,65% say that shows like The Simpsons and Married… With Children encourage kids to disrespect parents, witnessing repeated violent acts can lead to desensitization and a lack of empathy for human suffering, and television alone is responsible for 10% of
