He has not had any professional care in over 2 years. The client has recently been diagnosed with Type II diabetes mellitus as well as secondary hypertension. His healthcare physician has perscrived weigh loss, medication, and lifestyle changes to help control his current conditions. The client presents with an elevated blood pressure of 144/96 mm Hg and a pulse of 96 bpm. A recent toothache has prompted him to see the dentist; however, the client seems unaware of his oral condition. Upon the dental hygiene assessment, the client has moderate, generalized calculus with heavy, generalized plaque biofilm. He also has moderate, generalized bleeding upon probing as well as edematous, spongy gingival tissue. Also, his right mandibular central incisor exhibits Class 1 mobility.
