Elzeri La Grange 3375496 Meaning of being a pharmacist Part 2 Introduction to pharmacy has really broaden my perception of what it really means to be a pharmacist. I realised that a pharmacist is not only a person who help others to improve their health but also a person who can analyse a situation, one who has good counselling skills, a good memory, one who is a good decision maker, a natural leader and so much more. I realised than being a good pharmacist is directly linked to being able to handle big responsibilities, thus insuring and understanding the responsibility of safe and effective use of medicines. I also realised that being a pharmacist is not only about counting tablets and dispensing them at the pharmacy, there is much more to being a pharmacist and there are also countless opportunities for me as a pharmacist. As a qualified pharmacist I can work in the community pharmacy sisteem, hospital pharmacy, Pharmaceutical industry, academia, wholesaler and so much more. I started helping out at Durbell pharmacy as a casual and this experienced has also exposed me to many different situations, it has increased my confidence, my interpersonal skills as well as my knowledge about different types of medicines, but the event or more the events that contributed the most towards me realizing and changing my perspective about what it really means to be a pharmacist is definitely the passionate lecturers of PHA 116 as well as the course itself. The lectures and the visit to the school in Mitchells plain made me look at what it really means to be a pharmacist from a whole different point of view. I think it had this big effect on me, because my perspective was narrow and I was very eager to find out more about the role of a Pharmacist. I realised that I needed to become
