I believe very stongly in the power of music to influence people’s lives. Dictionary.com defines music as “an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.” The path I have chosen in this world is that of Opera performance. I live and learn through music, and it certainly has power over me. Where not everyone can perform music, a smaller amount of people can read music, and an even smaller amount still can compose music, everyone in the world can listen to music. It is recognized all over the world, and it has the ability to bring people together in times of joy, tragedy, war, and peace.
It brings people together and creates universal community. 2. Music inspires and evokes emotion in a healthy way. It touches our emotional being and evokes moods and feelings that are sometimes difficult to express. It can change a difficult mood and make it happy or excited; it can change a light mood and take it deeper and more profound.

The Effect of Music on Memory Performance For hundreds of years humans have been enjoying many unique genres of music. Thousands of people purchase music records and CD’s today because it is believed to make them feel well. Today, many college students listen to music while they are studying and this has made me ponder if whether students do this for pure enjoyment or do they do this to create a better learning environment. It also made me wonder if incorporating something enjoyable into our brains will help our memory or does it just distracts us from performing to our full potential. Memory is an active system that receives information from the senses, organizes and alters it as it stores it away, and retrieves the information from the storage (Ciccarelli & Meyer, p.210).
Why are you taking "Introduction to Culture"? Students take this class for a variety of reasons. Some come to the class because of a personal interest and fascination with culture. They want to explore, get exposure, and satisfy their curiosity about the ways people live around the world. This class will fulfill that need by challenging you to: • Understand how culture "works" in terms of human relations, • Recognize the beliefs and values that guide our own culture, and • Practice interpreting the cultural practices of other groups.
It is believed it can help students as they grow and enter society because it can help students shape their individual abilities and character. In a study in 1996, it was shown that music in our society creates jobs, increases local tax base, boost tourism, and help growth in businesses such as hotels and restaurants. Since many people believe that music can effect the human mind and brain in the way it develops, many different studies and experiments have been researched to find out if this theory is true. Studies have been done to find out how music effects the human brain, and if different kinds of music can effect humans in different ways. A lot of
