The McDonald’s Corporation McDonald’s is the world’s leading food service retailer. With over 36,000 restaurants all over the world, McDonald’s serves 69 million customers in over 100 countries each day, in other words: 1% or the world’s population each day. With a customer base this large, the key to this company’s success has been the alignment of franchisees and suppliers, which they refer to as the “System”. The amazing business model that the McDonald’s corporation has developed, allows them to serve locally-relevant food in local communities as well as all over the world, providing the competitive advantage among all other fast food chains Since the beginning, McDonald’s has been known for their efficiency in food services without compromising quality. Mc Donald also has mini manufacturing unit that prepare various components for the final products with the help of materials. There is also available assemble area or back room kitchen where all the materials assemble and fulfill the customers’ requirements. Within the Lean production concept McDonald’s uses the following core fundamentals: • Standardization: The entire restaurant that have situated in different locations cater standard product in terms of taste, quality and product characteristics. • A standard production process: To assemble the all the materials to develop the final product approach is same in all the outlets. • Just in time production concept: Final product ready as per the customers’ order and there are very few of product be ready in stock. • Lean production: The concept of backroom kitchen that assembles all the material for final product in effective and efficient manner.
