First, Kudler must understand its legal obligations to its employees as result of its decision to close down several departments for 3 months in order to refurbish these facilities. In the next situation, Kudler must also consider if entering into contracts with the local produce growers will be viable for the organization. In the third situation, Kudler must address concerns of Kudler’s use of organic produce. Since the organic produce has no preservatives what are the product liabilities and regulatory implications for Kudler? Lastly, since Kudler seeks to expand its service offerings it will need to hire more employees and must address the employment laws when considering the hiring of new employees. Kudler’s Corporate and Legal Obligations to Employees While Refurbishing Several Store Departments Since Kudler has decided to shut down some of its departments (deli, confectionary, and onsite prepared meals) for 3 months of services due to the opening of the catering department, many of the employees working in these departments will not be used. Kudler has several questions that need to be addressed concerning these employees and the legal ramifications they could potentially face
