Materialism

Nowadays, the rate of consumption of materialism is increasing in society. In every country or anywhere, there are people who are materialistic as they want the material possessions one owns such as, the latest fashions, the biggest house, or a sport car. People believe that they need all of these things to be viewed as a part of high society. People today work hard to obtain affluence, not so that they can be happy, but just because they want to keep up with the material possession. Sadly, these possessions just make them happy temporarily. Materialism has taken over community life and has had a major effect on happiness.
Firstly, materialism people one often crazy about power or money. They seek power and money because they think only material things will make them complete or make them feel more confident about themselves. Therefore, they are keen to have more ambition and strive to be more financially successful so they can afford to have the lifestyle they wish for. However most people are not always lucky to be financially successful that’s why they need to find the way for making more money. Some people do dishonest things, some people work harder than they should. For example, from my experience about one of my colleagues at work, she wanted to have a brand name hand bag like other person in the office. However she did not have enough money to buy it. She decided to work harder by do overtime every day, which caused her to be sick and exhausted. This also gave her less time to socialize with her friends and family. She thought the material possessions would make her happy, but her change in lifestyle made her sad.
Secondly, materialism can also affect one’s health status. Due a desire for materialistic, people spend most of their time to change their body but never take good care of their body. Therefore, most of not all of time died at an
