My paper this evening will hopefully explain the differences between each of the four Hispanic American groups I have chosen. First you have the Mexican American ethnicity which I know from personal experience are religious and very family oriented. Approximately 75 percent of the Mexican American population are of the Catholic faith, and in the southwestern United Sates over two-thirds of the Catholics are Mexican or Mexican Americans (Julian Samora, A History of the Mexican-American People, p.232). They have a few religious festivals and rituals such as the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is celebrated on December 12th. The festival celebrates the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to a changed Christian Indian.
